Funeral feedback

The funeral went very well in the end. We learnt a few things along the way, like where to put the collection basket. And how many chairs we needed to put out. We had some standing towards the back of the hall, but we comfortably fitted in 115. We also had the help of one of the undertakers to work the sound system – must remember to get someone in charge of it next time.

One of the things about being a vicar is that you keep bumping into people you have met at another time, in a completely different context. This happened a lot at this particular funeral, and while everyone can see who I am, it sometimes takes quite a bit of time for me to work out whom I’ve seen where before! And of course the one thing you can’t say at a funeral is “fancy meeting you here”…
