When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. (Acts 2:1)
Someone remarked to me yesterday, “Wouldn’t it be good if everyone turned up one Sunday?”
Later that day I sat down to plan the music for the next few Sundays, and realised that Pentecost falls this year on 19th May. It doesn’t seem unreasonable to suggest if there’s particularly one Sunday when we should all gather together this is it.
So let me challenge you – cancel whatever else you are doing on May 19th and come along to St Michael’s or St Barnabas. Visit Auntie Flo another day, get up early to walk the dog, prepare the lunch the evening before, whatever it takes – let’s see how many of us can gather in one place on the day of Pentecost. And spread the word. Wouldn’t it be fabulous to have 120 there – just as on the first day of Pentecost?
I can’t guarantee what the Lord will do, but let’s have an eager expectation for His Holy Spirit that day, and at least be in the right place to receive His blessing.
Over to you…
